About Mama Kim

Mama Kim’s Kitchen began with a simple wish to comfort others through food. In 2013, while living in Western Australia, she started cooking at a small weekend market. It began as a hobby—something she enjoyed doing in her free time, sharing familiar dishes with others who missed home-style cooking. At the time, she didn’t imagine it would grow into something more.

Mama Kim was born in Korea and raised near the fish markets of Incheon. Her mother came from a farming family, and from a young age, she learned how deeply food is tied to the land. She grew up watching food being grown, harvested, and prepared with care. That early connection continues to guide everything she makes.

Over the years, her love of cooking and curiosity for flavour led her through 29 countries. She travelled with a fishing rod and a notebook, learning from local ingredients and sharing meals wherever she went. Through every journey, she returned to one belief: she believed that food, when made with heart, has the power to comfort and connect.

Today, Mama Kim continues to honour those roots. Every jar of kimchi and every sauce she offers carries her story. It is food made with care, shaped by time, and offered with quiet pride.
